Union Nations, including Belgium and Germany, among others, plan to boycott the
World Cup European Soccer preliminaries scheduled this summer in Ukraine.

The Guardian has confirmed that Yulia Tymoshenko, former
Prime Minister of Ukraine under the former president, Victor Yuschenko, has
sustained significant injuries that she, and other observers, including her
daughter and human rights activist, claims she received at the hands of Ukrainian
prison guards back on 22 April. She is serving a 7 year sentence on a charge
that is widely considered throughout the international community as politically
motivated by her long time rival and current president of Ukraine, Victor
Yanykovych. The international condemnation and increasing scrutiny on the present
Ukrainian government has sparked several EU leaders, politicians, and
coalitions to outright boycott or diminish considerably their countries'
participation, or possible declining high-level political invitations.
