DO NOT BE INTIMIDATED!!!! That is what the Health Care Proponents are counting on...you being "shamed" by their codewords and accusations, or, worse, your apathy.
As I observe more and more disinformation being sprayed by the MSM and the Leftist Support channels such as MSNBC about the Health Care Debate and the Town Halls, I am becoming increasingly concerned as to the unprecedented level of misreported, unreported, or simply distorted accounts and continued accusations and maligning of real Americans with real concerns being stifled by their elected representatives. As I wrote to Chris Matthews of MSNBC, this kind of propaganda is reminiscent of some Thrid World Dictators trying to quell honest opposition to their unpopular policies. I encourage all Americans to expose and thwart this kind of blatant misinformation and unsubstantiated rhetoric that seems to be the thrust of the Health Care proponents and supporters of the Administration as their rhetort to the increasing opposition to this horrendous bill. Below is my letter to Chris Matthews as he blatantly and , in my opinion, irresponsibly uses incendiary words and code such as "racist", "bigoted", "extremist" and "Town Mauls" to refer to the honest and spreading concern for this policy. This is just the first battle....we have four more years of these kinds of malicious tactics coming from this Administration if we do not take a stand and voice our genuine concerns NOW!!
Dear Mr. Matthews,
As I transited the TV channels this Sunday, I happened to have caught your TV show this morning. It is truly astonishing to observe a once politically savvy and usually astute, albeit noticeably partisan, pundit such as yourself invoke and use language such as "hate" and "ethnic fear" to describe the Town Hall (...or was that Town "Mauls") meetings underscoring the frustration and genuine concern by millions of Americans about this Health Care Bill proposed by the Democrats. I for one am growing increasingly tired, and personally more angry, over the continued, incessant inference that anyone who opposes anything on the merits with this Administration and its Democratic supporters is immediately maligned as "racist" or "bigoted" or "extreme" or now a "thug" and even as "NAZI". The sheer hypocrisy, as very eloquently posed by Ms. Clinton herself about "dissent" during the Bush Administration, demonstrated by the Left is so stark and frankly ludicrous (Code Pink Out bursts come to mind), it whittles away at any credibility or true journalistic integrity to shellac any form of petition or opposition to this Health Bill as "extreme". The careless and total misrepresentation of the Tea Party phenomenon by your Network, and the unprecedented ridicule from those at MSNBC, helped fuel the Town Hall frustration...bottom line, Chris, you are totally misreading this, and to simply pass it off, as you sit in your cloistered Media Tower, as "racist" is so far off the reality mark, it begs the question on what, if anything, your Network might actually be able to report accurately.
I and scores of my colleagues and friends, and hundreds of their contacts, and thousands of theirs, are NOT agents of the insurance interests, beholden to the Republican party, nor are we afforded buses, red t-shirts, or juice boxes to manifest false indignation as we saw by ACORN in the AIG affair. We are hard working Americans, Democrats and Republicans, that do not believe this Health Care Reform is the right kind...yet our opposition to this Bill is immediately labeled by you, and your fellow "journalists" as "organized thugs", somehow influenced and manipulated by "big insurance". This is preposterous and is unsubstantiated rhetoric reminiscent of some third world communist dictator trying to squash real dissent.
My wife and I actually met you at Harvard several years ago when we were at the Kennedy School at a Pizza and Politics get together. We spoke with you for several minutes, and you came across as a passionate liberal, but a measured and relatively balanced pundit...I guess we were wrong.
Please do your homework...go get a Pulitzer by reporting the true nature of the Town Halls...not this continued mis and disinformation spewed by the likes of Olbermann, Maddow and Schultz...they couldn't hold a candle to you...do not stoop to this level of propaganda and denying the reality of real Americans with real concerns. You used to be viewed as a guy for the people...where'd that guy go...
Respectfully,
FD
