Mexico Violence Significantly Threatens US National Security

Today's Topic: Mexico Violence Significantly Threatens US National Security

As a resident of Southern California, one can't help but be concerned and disturbed by the accelerating trend of Mexican Drug Violence in Northern Baja State, and it's incipient and dangerous potential for considerable spillover into the US, especially San Diego and parts of South Texas. As a Crisis Management Consultant based in Southern California, I am witness to networks and clients struggling with this obvious, clear and present threat to not only organizational operations, but to life and limb. At latest tally, over 5600 people were murdered in connection to the Narco-Criminal activities in Mexico last year. It is by every measurement an epidemic in violence, crime, and horrific terror for Mexicans and business persons trying to keep or initiate operations in Mexico. We see on the nightly news violence in Pakistan, Gaza, and other "remote" places, but the spiraling violence taking place in Northern Mexico, and at the extent and scope so significant, it is a strange wonder why it is just now getting the attention it so clearly deserves. (Hats off to the new Glenn Beck Program for highlighting and detailing the immensity of this crisis).

Another entity that has given some considerable time and focus on this issue is the Family Security Matters organization (www.familysecuritymatters.org). They are instrumental in capturing issues of security that directly relate to families, security and protection for our children, and practical means to take real steps to implement procedures in our lives to mitigate and avoid risk. They recently had one of their experts, Mr. Jim Koury, CPP, write and article that lays out fairly clearly and concisely the real implications and concerns for Americans regarding increasing and widening Mexican Violence. (http://www.familysecuritymatters.org/publications/id.2379/pub_detail.asp).

In there, Mr. Koury cites the outgoing Director of Central Intelligence, Gen. Michael Hayden, stating that in his opinion, the number one threat to US National Security is Iran...and Mexico was number two. Interestingly, this marries up with a report published by the US Military's Joint Forces Command in their annual report "The Joint Operating Environment" or "JOE" report...in there, they claim Pakistan, and its potential for political implosion, is the key threat to US security, and number two....you guessed it: Mexico

About four months ago, contacts and networks within my company, The Agemus Group (www.agemusgroup.com), were getting indications of a potential military coup in Mexico from some fairly senior Mexican officials. Though that was much more low volume and ancillary indications at the time, it now does not seem out of the realm of possibility that Mexican authorities, based on the awakening of the American public, and the reporting from two powerful and influential defense and national security agencies, the CIA and DoD (who don't always agree to their respective intelligence predictions), the Mexican National Authority may be positioned and impelled to take some drastic and unprecedented steps to quell this exponential threat to Mexican sovereignty and security, and US security.

The Politics Of Personal Attention

Today's Additional Topic: The Politics Of Personal Attention

Reagan had "Trickle Down Economics"...

Bush 41 had "The New World Order"

Clinton had (hum..there were so many choice ones..) "Politics of Personal Destruction"

Bush 43 had "Compassionate Conservatism"

And now, President Obama is honing the tactic of " The Politics Of Personal Attention"

Though President Obama has been a controversial and often enigmatic character, one thing many can agree upon is his natural charm, charisma, and personable approach and casual demeanor as an enhancement to his political persona. Even many republicans commented after their meeting with him how "likeable" he is, some even commenting that they thought the Gold Standard for political sway and charm would always be Bill Clinton, but that President Obama has met, if not surpassed that. In this day and age of American Idol and MTV, it is no wonder how a young, hip, and "in tune" guy like Obama isn't Presidential material..regardless of how thin and porous his actual accomplishments and resume may be.

This charm, and Obama's perfection of its use, is both an enhancer, and also a weapon...a weapon to his detractors. Let’s just walk back a few months, and recall the personal propeller Joe The Plumber walked into as a result of engaging with then Candidate Obama...being the personable and "approachable" guy Obama portrayed, what would be wrong with a little "straight talk"..a little "meeting of the minds" between the two...and of course the thousands of media stalkers and cheerleaders in the Obama camp...we see how ole' Joe was vilified and eventually improperly investigated (if not illegally..and I thought the Democrats were so concerned about our private lives and information....i.e. The Patriot Act..unless of course it is a potential political embarrassment or challenge..as was Joe), and how he became a whipping boy and lightening rod for a great deal of editorial scrutiny and chastising...all because he engaged with an Engaging Guy...and said and challenged the wrong thing.

Take President Obama's most recent friendly and "engaging" stroll to the White House Press Office...bat it around with the Journalists..just one of the guys..and dare that a journalist would actually ask a question of the President...how dare he "engage" the Engager...that journalist, Rich Lowery I believe, was chastised and condemned for actually asking the President a question....the wrong question (..because lets face it, if it were a standard powder puff ice cream cone pitch from the normal sycophants.."How do you feel, Mr. President?..how are your kids adjusting to the new house, Mr., President?)..and the Engager engaged..and this time, with personal, natural and condescending interpersonal skills that castigated and scolded the journalist...it was a very personal moment..attention was meted out..but the kind you get when you might be the only recruit at boot camp that didn't quite get the last command..and you are the only one still standing ...in the wrong place..in the wrong uniform....yikes..

Now we see the same type of Personal Attention/Charm working..but this time against another private, albeit powerful and influential,  person..and exhibiting a great deal of Personal Attention to him..Rush Limbaugh...and also Sean Hannity. Why would the President of the United States be so engaged and fixated on these two individuals, unless they posed a challenge, deserved some praise, or were going to become members of his cabinet...we can deduce its isn't the latter two...so we know they are a challenge and a concern for the President.

One can debate a great deal why Limbaugh and Hannity might be concerns for the President, and the broader liberal-esque wave descending on the American Body Politic, but it is the subtle and incipient way, with a complicit media and congress, that strikes me as nothing more than disturbing. We endured, and President Bush and his family personally endured, the likes of Keith Olberman, Bill Maher, and scores of Hollywood pseudo-intellectuals that vilified and snidely condemned the President in vile and in some cases despicable political assassination speech ("Mr. Bush...Shut the H*ll Up"..during Olberman's Edward R, Morrow wanna be moment), along with sitting congressional members, including then Senator Obama himself in his comments on our troops (implied, Bush's Troops) bombing of civilians, and air raiding villages...

As I mentioned in a previous Article, The Rules For Radicals , by Saul Alinsky describes and details ways the radical left must separate aspects of the social fabric and have them ostracized and marginalized to advance the liberal agenda...and President Obama, knowingly or otherwise, is playing quarterback on the Liberal agenda team, with the Alinsky book as the playbook. I believe this is an attempt by the President and his proponents to try to cast a death nail in the conservative movement by singling out, marginalizing, and attempting to vilify Conservative Talk Radio as a means for political dissent and opposition. I believe this is a prime motivator to pass the deceptively labeled "Fairness Doctrine".

I'll be keeping a clear and focused eye on this as it unfolds in the days and weeks to come. One thing is for sure...perception goes both ways, and if the GOP and the Conservatives play this right, Rush Limbaugh can be the poster child for the First Amendment and Free Speech...of which the Left has tried to monopolize as their cause..what they don't get is that it is an American Cause...regardless how much "Personal Attention" the President and a complicit media may impart to millions of their fellow citizens.

Post script: Correction-.."that journalist, Rich Lowery I believe, was chastised and condemned for actually asking the President a question"..it was Politico's Jonathan Martin

Embodiment of "Hate"- Liberal Targeting of the American Right

Today's TopicEmbodiment of "Hate"- Liberal Targeting of the American Right

Much of the country has begun to take their respective sides and have begun digging their "fighting holes" with regards to Rush Limbaugh's comments last week on the Sean Hannity Show, and the reaction and statements made by President Obama as to "not following" the ideology and philosophy of Limbaugh and those like him.; essentially Conservative Talk radio.

I posted in my last article, Saul Alinsky's, The Rules for Radicals playbook...and this attack (let's call it what it truly is) is right out of the Alinsky Playbook. By President Obama commenting on the comments by Limbaugh, it raises the Bully Pulpit to a new level. Even in his heyday and with great distrust of the media, did Nixon personalize it from the Bully Pulpit or certainly in his first weeks in office? ("The Silent Majority" notwithstanding) I am not sure, though there is ample historical record to check this, if Nixon ever publically singled out a reporter or commentator as we saw Candidate Obama, and now President Obama do with both Limbaugh and Hannity. Per the Alinsky Playbook, Limbaugh must symbolize bigoted, "hate" speech, and everything he says or promotes will be veiled in "lunatic fringe rantings of the racist right". He will become, per the playbook, the "Embodiment of Hate", and will now be a free and open target for ALL the ills of partisan politics..."If we can just get those people..The Hannity and Limbaugh Lemmings.. to come around..get them thinking in the proper direction, this will be a better country, a better system, and a better world..."..and so on!

We as Common Sense Americans must refute this shaping and perception manipulation by socialist and radical liberal activists and politicians of Limbaugh and his supporters and emulators as the "impediment to change". If they are seen as "impediments" to change, then they are stalling and impeding "good change".."the righteous path"..the necessary means to "get this country going in the proper direction". We must continue to exercise our Constitutional Rights to dissent and oppose our government...to be that moment of pause for the Democrats and their Social Liberal "Whip Crackers" as they drive this "change" down the throats the other 47% of the electorate that didn't vote for President “I won” (so sit down and keep coloring) Obama. This is the sole reason the deceptively labeled "Fairness" doctrine is such a hot ticket item for the Left. I, for once, agree with Hillary Clinton, and reflect on her over the top, screeching on the Senate Floor wagging her finger in our faces (must run in the family), telling us how patriotic it was to question authority, petition our government, and to dissent. Apparently the Left isn't willing to practice what they preach.

Uncovering the US Liberal Socialist Playbook

Today’s Topic: The Modern US Liberal Socialist Playbook

Most "day in day out, take our kids to school, work in the yard", Americans have not heard of Saul D. Alinsky. He is, however, the father and author of modern American Radical Liberalism, and is the mentor and reference for many predominant liberals in the political establishment and in media circles. Though there may be millions of Americans that do not know he is a "play book" master, many of us are becoming increasingly familiar with his tactics. These very tactics can be seen and experienced in the Blogosphere, Main Stream Media, and in the local, municipal, and State legislatures across the land.

Wikipedia claims:
"Rules for Radicals: A Pragmatic Primer for Realistic Radicals
(copyrighted as Rules for Radicals: A Practical Primer for Realistic Radicals) is the last book written by community organizer Saul D. Alinsky before his death in 1972. Published in 1971, it was Alinsky's attempt to impart his theory and methods of organizing to the current generation of young activists, largely drawing upon his own experiences."

Alinsky captures in this prophetic statement what many might see as the exact playbook and agenda unfolding in Congress, media (most certainly at MSNBC, Daily Kos, and Huffington Post). Specifically note the underlined sentence. One can almost hear the echoes of "Yes We can..Change..etc.."

"There's another reason for working inside the system. Dostoevsky said that taking a new step is what people fear most. Any revolutionary change must be preceded by a passive, affirmative, non-challenging attitude toward change among the mass of our people. They must feel so frustrated, so defeated, so lost, so futureless in the prevailing system that they are willing to let go of the past and change the future. (editorial comment..one can see a complicate Media creating the conditions through day in day out bombardment of all the ill-fated aspects of the Global War on Terror, and never truly, at least the Main Stream Broadcast Networks, ever focusing on or emphasizing the positive and constructive aspects to reconstruction, military victories, or the second and tertiary affects of great sacrifice by our fighting forces, and our intelligence community. Thus we see a Keith Olberman emerge, and being prompted and comfortable telling a standing President on National Television to "Shut the H*ll Up!"..and he is hailed as some journalistic patriot and Icon by much of the Radical Left. The constant Chinese water torture coverage from Iraq, Abu Ghuraib, "Gitmo", contractors, Halliburton, Intelligence "failures", Ineptitude by all senior Bush Administration Officials, corruption in government, financial meltdowns, CEO compensation, housing crashes....the list goes on and on.., yet very little coverage on the tremendous performance, sacrifice, and incredible bench mark of no further terrorist incidents on American soil after 9/11, that the economy is still performing better than any other in the history of economic growth and opportunity for Americans to prosper) This acceptance is the reformation essential to any revolution. To bring on this reformation requires that the organizer work inside the system, among not only the middle class but the 40 per cent of American families - more than seventy million people - whose income range from $5,000 to $10,000 a year [in 1971]. They cannot be dismissed by labeling them blue collar or hard hat. They will not continue to be relatively passive and slightly challenging. If we fail to communicate with them, if we don't encourage them to form alliances with us, they will move to the right. Maybe they will anyway, but let's not let it happen by default."

In his "Rules For Radicals" Alinsky lays out several rules that can be called the "Play Book" . It is incumbent upon us as Conservatives and preservers of that which is uniquely American to know these rules, observe the Radical Left, and call them on it at every turn, and thwart them when and where necessary. YOU HAVE BEEN ARMED, and FOREWARNED. Use this information, research Alinsky and his followers, and counter the encroachment of Liberal Radicalism into our mainstream culture!

Today's Topic: The "Gitmo" Debate

Here in Southern California, there is a considerable amount of hyperbole about the potential housing and maintenance of the remaining "Gitmo" detainees at US Marine Corps Facilities at either Camp Pendleton or Marine Corps Air Station, Miramar, both located just north of San Diego. Today's San Diego Times Tribune had an editorial raking the Freshman Congressman, Duncan D. Hunter, over the coals for his rhetoric about opposing the closing of "Gitmo" and the placing the detainees under Marine Corps control at one of these facilities.

The Editorial Board of the "Trib" , in addition to taking pot shots at the young Congressman, argues that the Marines are "perfectly capable" of taking care of the detainees, and that we should not have anything to fear. Though I may not share the congressman's rhetoric, did touch on some key points that set the argument in the right direction. One, that giving it to the Marines from a "capability" stand point is not the issue...the Marines Can probably run the Editorial Board at the Trib better if given the chance...but the congressman's pint is it is not a "core competency" for the Marines. The Marines, specifically that branch of our Armed Forces, is designed, trained, and equipped to be a first strike force for dynamic and kinetic entry..period. Having the Marines acting as "hall monitors" for Al Qaeda terrorists is not the best, nor most effective, utilization for our already task saturated forces.

The Marines will salute smartly if this is determined to be the course of action decided by the National Command Authority. It is incumbent on us, the citizenry, to voice our opposition to this misappropriate of capabilities by writing, emailing, calling our Senators and Congressmen. (Feinstein, Phone: (202) 224-3841, and Boxer, (202) 224-3553)...and stay away from the "not in my backyard" chant...the Marines just aren't the right tool for this mission, whether the mission is FUBAR or not.

Your Thoughts?
